Should I Have Empathy For A Narcissist?

The short answer is NO. The root of a narcissist is a persona that embodies intense insecurity and fear that often develops in childhood or adolescence. As a result of these emotions, many wonder if they should have empathy for a narcissist. In fact, narcissists often target and groom empaths. However, the very nature of a narcissist is to obtain narcissistic supply and feed off of other people. To put it simply, the narcissist sucks the life out of their victims and selfishly chooses to manipulate another being in order to fill themselves. Therefore, at the core, it is a selfish choice that drives them. In addition, a narcissist is never full and thus must constantly obtain new supply. The perpetrator is constantly choosing to address their internal insecurity and fear by using other people over and over again without regard to the impact that their manipulative tactics have on humanity. Thus, one should not have empathy for a narcissist but rather turn their empathy inwards, heal themselves from narcissistic abuse, and develop an empowered internal being that is narcissist resistant. Happy healing.
