Part 2: Pay Attention To How You Think About Other People
How is thinking about other people related to reclaiming your life? Good question. Let’s reflect together for a moment.
When a person spends time wondering about; what others think about something they did, or said, what they wore that day , or if they were being judged it puts the person in a dependent position. What does it matter what the other person thinks? If you have started to reclaim your life, you have been in the process of filling yourself up with love, attention, safety, security, fun, and joy. Therefore, you do not need a compliment or praise because you are already full within yourself. A compliment or praise makes your cup overflow. It does NOT fill it. Therefore, spiraling into a long thought process in which you wonder what a coworker just thought and think through all the various possibilities is a waste of your energy, is unnecessary, and unhealthy. If you do not believe me, try this the next time you catch yourself thinking about how other people see you; pay attention to how it feels in your body. If you are living consciously, you will notice that you feel panic, stress, insecurity, fear, or a myriad of other emotions that register negatively in your body. A person that unconsciously spirals into thoughts about the perception of others wastes energy, causes an unhealthy reaction within the body, lives dependently, and is NOT filling themselves. Therefore, it is crucial in the process of reclaiming your life that you pay attention to your own thoughts-be metacognitive- and think about your own thinking when it comes to your perception of others.
