What Is The Role Of A Partner?

There is so much codependency in our society which is often a root cause of abuse, trauma, and unhappiness. I have heard too often from well intentioned folks “I cannot wait for you to find someone that fills your cup!”. Screech. No. Today we are going to take a closer look at the role of a partner.

A partner is not in your life to fill you up or prop you up. That is your job. Let me say that again. That is YOUR job. No one fills your cup. YOU do. So then, what is the role of a partner?


The role of a partner is to make an already 100% full person even better. Their job is to support you to be an even better you when you are already functioning at 100%. When I say 100% I mean that you are your own source of love, security, attention, fun, and safety. It is not a lean-on or prop-up role. Rather, think of them like the motorcycle with the little sidecar. You share the ride with them but they are in their own car. You are firmly in the driver’s seat and are in charge of your journey. If you are not 100% full when you enter the partnership or the partner does not want the sidecar role, then I suggest you think about it a little longer. In the end, you might realize they do not look cute in a sidecar helmet. 



At the end of decades of trauma, I sought professional help for chronic PTSD, powerlessness, codependency, and the lack of boundaries. I worked with many wonderful professionals but soon realized that the American mental health system was not able to adequately treat my trauma and I became frustrated as a consumer. I realized that long term injury impacts not only the mental, emotional, and physical body but also impacts the soul. I started to do energy work on myself daily and opened a channel with a council of spirit allies, an ascended master, and an evolving group of ancestors. As time went on, I worked on myself daily and utilized guidance from my spirit allies and I became stronger. I had battled chronic illness for over 20 years and went from 25 prescription drugs and supplements with out of state treatments for my lymphatic system to zero treatments and 10 drugs and supplements within one year of departure from a toxic environment and daily energy work. I now fill myself, connect to my own source of internal power, and live my truth.
